This incredible American oak long case clock was trademarked by the prestigious Charles Jacques Clock Company and sold by the Bowa and Dotter Company of New York City. The solid oak case has a commanding presence with an arched pediment and full columns on the bonnet and body. The clock rests on boldly carved paw feet. Notice the unusual decoratively carved panels on the sides of the bonnet. The body has an arched top, beveled glass door with its original working lock and key. There are beveled glass panels on the sides as well. The glass door on the bonnet retains its original working lock and key. Check out the intricate metal work on the face. The brass is delicately chased, covering areas on the inside and outside of the dial. Notice the ornate sweep second hand in the center of the dial. There are applied brass numbers over a chased silvered dial. The hour hands are original and very ornate. This clock also has a working moon dial, which slowly displays the various phases of the moon throughout the month. The painted scenes on the dial are in excellent condition and well executed. The clock retains its original heavy-duty German works. It is stamped with the word “Monastery” and its insignia. These clock were always associated with the Charles Jacques Clock Co. and were considered one of the premier clocks at that time. The works are stamped Germany. The movement has its original 3 brass weights and 5 tubes, which strike every quarter hour performing the Westminster chimes. The brass pendulum is original as well. This clock is in excellent running condition. The oak case retains its original finish, which is in excellent condition having a rich color patina.
