Mahogany Empire or Victorian Bookcase

This handsome mahogany 2-door bookcase has Empire and Victorian detailing.  The top has a lovely rope or gadrooned carved edge.  The ½ columns on each front corner are exquisitely carved, displaying acanthus leaves and delicate turnings.  The 2 glass doors has a working lock and key, not original but functional.  Inside are 4 long original adjustable shelves.  Notice the repeated rope carvings along the base.  The bookcase rests on boldly carved paw feet.  The finish is original and in excellent condition having a deep, rich color and patina.
