This lovely handpainted stand is referred to as a music cabinet and was originally intended to store sheet music.  The gold toned cabinet has handpainted scenes on the top and its three sides.  The top scene has a stream framed in trees.  There is a banding of brass used to accentuate the raised top.  The sides have shapely recessed panels.  One with a rural scene having a cottage and trees and the other with trees, rocks and a pond.  Notice the swelled front recessed paneled door with the classical scene of a Greek looking couple courting and playing a lyre.  The door retains its original working lock and a key.  Inside is a single shelf, but you can see where there were originally additional ones.  The cabinet rests on tall slender carved cabriole legs.  The finish and paint is original with only minor touch up and wear along the top edge.
