What a fabulous, small, oval dining table that expands to over 14 feet!!  This mahogany table is from the Empire or Classical period.  It is rare to find such a small sized table which can expand to a banquet size easily accommodating 16 or more people.  The solid mahogany top has a rich graining and a moulded edge.  The table comes with one original leaf which measures 23” wide.  There is a second leaf, also measuring 23” wide that has some slight damage along one edge.  To take advantage of the table’s full expansion, additional leaves can be made.  Another more economical solution would be to use plywood, cover with a table cloth and no one would be the wiser.  Check out the fabulous flame mahogany graining on the table skirt and base – incredible!  The faceted center column has recessed arched panels resting on a shapely platform base supported by bun feet resting on heavy duty brass casters.  Notice how the pedestal is comprised of 2 main halves which split to support the top when expanding.  In addition, there is a hidden center leg which provides additional necessary support in the middle when the table is fully expanded; it is extremely stout and secure.  Its finish is in excellent condition having a deep rich color and patina.  We currently have several sets of chairs which would greatly compliment this simple yet elegant dining table.
