The top lifts up to reveal a 9" deep storage area - possible large silver serving pieces. The edge of the top is highly carved. Below are 2 doors with intricately carved raised panels. Even the wooden pulls are carved. Inside are 5 hand dovetailed drawers with inset and applied carved wooden pulls. All the drawers are fabric lined. The delicate carvings are repeated on the four corners of the cabinet and along the skirt. The corners of the skirt appear to have carved owl or bird faces and the feet have unusually carved claws. We love the trapezoidal shape of the cabinet. Its small size would allow it to adapt for a variety of purposes.
