The seats are made of one solid plank of pinewood - hence the name. The balloon shaped backs are rather unique with hand painted sprigs of roses on the crests and on the center splats. Notice the pin stripping along the outside frames of the chairs and the faux graining on the backs and seats. The seat has additional floral painting and the legs have additional pin stripping. The chairs are in remarkable condition. The painting is original with some minor loss of paint on the crests, all to be expected and nothing offensive. All the chairs are tight with no breaks or repairs. What a sweet set for your country cottage or Victorian home.
